Brooklyn, NY’s Big Crown Records will mark its 10^th anniversary by hosting a series of big shows throughout the country this fall. The label was founded in 2016 by Leon Michels and Danny Akalepse and has gone on to release recordings by Lady Wray, El Michels Affair, Marco Benevento, Bobby Oroza, Bacao Rhythm & Steel Band, Homer, Dave Guy, Thee Heart Tones, Thee Marloes and others.

Each of the upcoming shows will feature a different lineup, showcasing the label’s roster and collaborative spirit. On Friday, September 11, the first Big Crown Records 10^th Anniversary Showcase will take place at Chicago’s Thalia Hall, boasting El Michels Affair with Benevento and longtime Daptone drummer Homer, as well as Brainstory, Thee Heart Tones and a DJ set from Akalepse. Then, on Saturday, October 10, the party will move to Los Angeles’ The Bellwether, bringing together El Michels Affair featuring Homer, Benevento and Roots trumpeter Dave Guy, plus special guests Derya Yildirim & Grup Simsek, Thee Marloes, Thee Heart Tones and another DJ set from Akalepse. Finally, on Saturday, October 24, the celebration will wrap up back home at Brooklyn, NY’s Elsewhere with El Michels Affair featuring Homer, Benevento and Guy, Derya Yıldırım & Grup Şimşek, Brainstory, Thee Heart Tones and a third DJ set from Akalepse. In a recent Relix interview, Benevento hinted that each of the shows will feature a good amount of cross-pollination as well.

The label will also celebrate its milestone anniversary with The Big Crown 10 Year Anniversary Rollerskating Record Fair on Saturday, July 25. The all-ages event will take place from 12-5 pm at the Brooklyn venue and roller-skating rink Xanadu, featuring DJ sets from Edan, El Michels Affair and Akalepse.
