Eggy returned to the stage after three weeks away on Saturday, March 7, for a performance at Moontown Brewing Company in Whitestown, Ind. The indie-jam quartet’s first performance since their unforgettable sets on Jam Cruise 22 set off their spring tour itinerary with a solid mix of classics and curveballs, including an unexpected return to a long-shelved original and a Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young classic.

Eggy rode out into their first frame on Saturday with the recent reliable opener “Silver Steed (My Blue),” then looked back on their beginnings with a pairing of “Here and Now” and “Lost and Found,” which have remained in their live repertoire since 2019 and 2017, respectively. The band’s cooing and warmly funky cover of J.E. Sunde’s “Sunset Strip” elicited soaring harmonies that spirited them into a set-closing medley of “Agatha” and the blissfully boisterous “Hux (Wit’ It).”

After the set-break, Eggy launched another act with “Laurel,” ornamented with teases of Creedence Clearwater Revival’s “Proud Mary” and the Bee Gees’ “Stayin’ Alive” from guitarist Jake Brownstein. From their rollicking introduction, the group lit into an uninterrupted four-song sprint through the set-closer, beginning with an unfinished “Breaking the Horse” that quickly gave way to “Shallow Rivers,” into which Brownstein snuck a tease of “One More Dance.” From there, the group waded into “Moments Passed,” a track dating back to 2015 that they performed for the first time since Feb. 2024 and 12th time to date.

A return to “Here and Now” served as a launchpad for some expansive improvisation to cap off the second set. As one last generous surprise, the quartet opened their encore by dusting off their cover of Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young’s “Teach Your Children,” staged for the first time since December 2021 and third time to date. A deft segue into “12 Pounds of Pain” wrapped the show on a powerful high note.

Eggy’s spring tour will continue on Wednesday with a show in Memphis, Tenn. Find tickets and more information on the band’s full live itinerary at eggymusic.com/tour.
