Dark Star Orchestra Extend Summer Tour
Dark Star Orchestra have extended their summer tour right up until the beginning of the fall. The popular Grateful Dead tribute act will now make stops at the Ting Pavilion in Charlottesville, VA (9/10), Riverfront Park in Harrisburg, PA (9/11), Saranac Brewery in Utica, NY (9/15), College Street Music Hall in New Haven, CT (9/17) and Hampton Beach Casino – Hampton Beach, NH (9/18). These late-summer dates come after what is sure to be a active summer for the outfit, with shows already slated for July and August, including a Jerry Garcia celebration at Berkeley, CA’s Greek Theatre on July 31 and August 1. It has already been a busy spring and early summer for the ensemble, including a stop at Columbia, MD’s All Good Festival on June 13, where Trey Anastasio Band’s Jennifer Hartswick sat in on a cover of “Going Down the Road Feeling Bad.”
The group is currently in the midst of a two-night run at New York’s Pier 17 and will return to the outdoor venue tonight. Of note, on Sunday they encored with Neil Young & Crazy Horses’ classic “Powderfinger,” the first time they have covered the track. Dark Star Orchestra’s Jeff Mattson, Rob Eaton and Skip Vangelas will also visit New York’s City Winery for two acoustic evenings “built around harmony and the kind of up-close listening that happens in a small room” on October 23 and 24.
