Chris Thile’s Acousticamp Returns with Punch Brothers, Sierra Hull, Louis Cato and More

Chris Thile has announced the return of Acousticamp, the prolific instrumentalist’s 2024  instructional getaway for fans and practitioners of acoustic music. The event’s second annual staging will bring the festivities to Thile’s home state of Califorania to stage four days of performance, discussion and deep listening at Pacific Grove’s Asilomar Hotel, a scenic coastal retreat along the northwestern brim of the stunning and historic Monterey region.

Thile’s dispatch is bolstered by the full list of hand-picked artists who will take part in this event, including such icons of the bluegrass and jazz worlds as Chris Eldridge, Brittany Haas, Paul Kowert, Noam Pikelny, Michael Daves, Ashley Hoyer and Julian Lage, as well as first-time partners Louis Catio and Sierra Hull. Beyond this stacked lineup, the retreat will feature performances from some yet-undisclosed special guests. Last year’s guests were Thile’s own Nickel Creek and Punch Brothers, with all the members of the latter signing on this year as returning “faculty.”

Acousticamp welcomes performers of all levels and fans alike, offering instruction tailored to meet participants at the degree of their experience and special intimate exchange with lauded artists. Thile describes the experience in a personally-penned brief: “Whether you’re a professional musician looking to increase the range and depth of your work, or a passionate concertgoer eager to understand more about the music you love, this is the camp for you! Prepare for a hands-on, ears-up deep dive into ALL the nooks and crannies of acoustic music-making: performance, composition, lyric-writing, improvisation, collaboration, recording, and on and on.”

Registration for the second annual Acousticamp is open now. For more information, visit christhileacousticamp.com.
