On Thursday night, Eggy arrived in the Bay Area for the latest stop on their current Here and How Tour. The location sparked anticipated thrill, considering its status as an epicenter for the jam community. To that effect, the band played up their cues to the Grateful Dead by welcoming Grahame Lesh to the stage for a cover of Jerry Garcia’s “Cats Under The Stars” and the use of Jerry Garcia’s famed Alligator guitar, bestowed to Jake Brownstein during the concert’s second set and clear through the encore.

“One Stop Shop” served as the night’s initial number and fused into “A Moment’s Notice,” which was left unfinished in exchange for “Atomic Age.” During the latter, the band seized the proper timing to nod to Little Feat with a well-placed tease of “Spanish Moon.” Before welcoming Lesh to the stage, they worked through “You” as a final musical mode in transferring energy to the audience ahead of the sit-in.

Garcia’s “Cats Under The Stars” took set one’s final slot, with added guitar from Lesh, who turned up on stage for the concert ignitor and positioned riffs that paid homage to the originator. When Eggy returned for their second set, guitarist Jake Brownstein brought Garcia’s original 1955 Fender Stratocaster, known as “Alligator,” which was provided by Grateful Guitars.

Eggy jammed on “Sweet Equity” before conjuring an ode to Garica’s other project, Old and in the Way, on “Midnight Moonlight,” the Peter Rowan-penned classic. Lesh returned for one final sit-in, adding his expertise to the band’s 2025 debut, “Trixieville,” performed for the first time in early February–persistently appearing on setlists following its Feb. 5 premiere.

The band ran through a final pair of originals, which preluded the night’s take on “Onitsuka Tiger,” which featured an appearance from jam scene funnyman Cam Herdt, who told stories backed by teases of “Dancing in the Street.”

After the band’s Bay Area concert, they will perform at Felton Music Hall in Felton, Calif., tonight, Feb. 21, 2025. Tickets remain on sale.
