Buck Meek has announced his new album, The Mirror, arriving on February 27 via 4AD. On his fourth solo studio offering, the singer-songwriter and Big Thief guitarist feels around the hazy contours of love and intimacy with a wide-eyed reverence for their mercurial undercurrents. He’s previewed the set with the lead single “Gasoline,” accompanied by a warmly disorienting music video by director Noel Paul.

The Mirror is another family affair for the members of Big Thief, with production duties helmed by drummer James Krivchenia, who has moved into more electronic experimentation in recent projects like his 2025 solo record Performing Belief. At Meek and Germaine Dunes’ log cabin studio, Ringo Bingo, the bandmates conspired to recombine that with Big Thief’s kinetic live energy, fostering a freely collaborative atmosphere and stitching in modular synthesizers to pursue a deeper sound. Adrienne Lenker adds backing vocals, alongside Jolie Holland, Staci Foster and Dunes, alongside other contributors including harpist Mary Lattimore and ambient composer Alex Somers.

“Gasoline” provides a first impression of Meek’s first solo release since 2023’s Haunted Mountain in a frenetic gust of ringing guitar and racing thoughts. Spirited along by a flurry from his band of Ken Woodward, Adam Brisbin, and Jesse Quebbeman-Turley, he drives at the embodied experience of anxious love with insights forming on his tongue, quavering and resolute. “Making words up while we made love,” he sings from the studio’s front porch, looking in on the band through the living room window. “One month and she’s in my blood.”

The Mirror is available to pre-order and pre-save now. Watch the music video for “Gasoline” below, and read on for the album’s full tracklist and Meek’s upcoming tour dates.
