Bob Weir Announces Hawaiian NYE Show with Bill Kretuzmann, George Porter Jr., Steve Kimock and More

Bob Weir has finally revealed his New Year’s Eve plans, and it’s a show that was certainly worth the wait.

Weir will be joined by Bill Kretuzmann, George Porter Jr., Steve Kimock, Jeff Chimenti, Robin Sylvester and Wally Ingram on Hawaii’s North Shore of Kauai for “Rising Up to Paradise,” a single day, star-studded event to benefit the Hanalei Initiative and Earthjustice.

Weir’s band (dubbed The Big Swell), will share the bill with The Dirty Knobs with Mike Campbell, Taj Mahal, Island Grass and a late-night set by DJ Logic.

“Big swells typically occur on Kauai’s North Shore in wintertime, originating from Aleutian storms and ultimately creating huge — and, at times, unpredictable — surf conditions along the coast,” the collective wrote in a press release. “Such a Big Swell is also predicted to roll into Kauai on December 31 from a storm originating in San Francisco, when members of the Grateful Dead, Dead & Company, The Other Ones, Ratdog, The Meters, and Timbuk 3 come together for the very first time in this particular combination, causing unknown conditions and potentially historic outcomes for beat-surfers Bill Kreutzmann, Bob Weir, George Porter Jr., Jeff Chimenti, Robin Sylvester, Steve Kimock and Wally Ingram.”

Tickets for the event will go on sale Wednesday, October 31st at 7 a.m. HST/ 1 p.m. ET.
