Billy Corgan to Host Virtual Benefit Concert for Highland Park Shooting Victims

The Smashing Pumpkins frontman and Chicago-native Billy Corgan has announced a livestream benefit concert to raise money for the victims of the July 4th shooting that occurred in Highland Park, Ill. The event has been dubbed Together and Together Again and will take place at the musician’s Highland Park tea house, Madame Zuzu’s, on July 27.

Corgan’s virtual benefit concert will be broadcast for free on The Smashing Pumpkin’s official YouTube channel. In addition, viewers of the livestream event can make charitable donations to assist victims of the tragic Independence Day event, which resulted in seven deaths and over 45 injuries.

The event’s host has not revealed the complete artist lineup. However, he did share that drummer Jimmy Chamberlin and saxophonist Frank Catalano, along with other members of The Smashing Pumpkin family, will be in attendance.

“There have been so many people here affected by this tragedy,” shared Corgan alongside his partner and co-owner of Madame Zuzu’s, Chloe Mendel, in the video announcement for the forthcoming event. Moreover, he added, “It’s very close to our hearts and we hope you’ll participate and support as well.”

Corgan has been a resident of Highland Park–a Chicago suburb situated 25 miles north of downtown Chicago–for over 20 years. The Smashing Pumpkins’ frontman also added that “lots of special guests” will be announced in the coming days.

Together and Together Again will be broadcast live via YouTube on July 27 at 9 p.m. ET.
