BadBadNotGood and Charlotte Day Wilson Reunite for “Sleeper”

Toronto’s own BadBadNotGood and Charlotte Day Wilson have again converged to give life to their latest creation, “Sleeper.” The collaborative sounds from the two musical powerhouses stretch back to the 2016 track “In Your Eyes,” which appears on BadBadNotGood’s fourth studio album, IV.
The genesis of their latest collaboration traces back to a live performance at London’s All Points East festival in August, where Wilson and the instrumental group introduced the song to the world. Their creative journey continued at the renowned Valentine Recording Studios in Los Angeles, where they etched the sounds of “Sleeper” onto analog tape.
Delving into the creative process behind “Sleeper,” Wilson revealed, “‘Sleeper’ wrote itself. We were in the studio just casually experimenting, and the guys spontaneously crafted the vibrant instrumental as I let the lyrics flow freely. The song paints a vivid portrait of someone who opts for the path of least resistance and becomes ensnared in a lifeless, loveless relationship.”
Other collaborations between BadBadNotGood and Wilson include 2021 with “I Can Only Whisper” from Wilson’s debut LP, Alpha, multiple live performances and an incredible 2017 Tiny Desk Concert for NPR.
