Audio Premiere: Smithsonian Folkways Unearths Rare Doc Watson Banjo Track

Tomorrow is the official release date of the new Smithsonian Folkways compilation, Classic Banjo. The album was compiled by ethnomusicologist Greg Adams and archivist Jeff Place from over 300 records in the Smithsonian Folkways collection. As part of their research the pair found a rare track from acoustic guitar legend Doc Watson. On this version of “Rambling Hobo” from 1976, Watson appears on banjo and it is the first song he learned on the instrument. The song streams below.
