April Fool’s, Halloween, Christmas and New Year’s Eve Featured on Bonus Episode of Phish Podcast ‘Long May They Run’

C13Originals Long May They Run podcast delivered a bonus episode this week. Season one of the series, which is hosted by Relix editor-in-chief Dean Budnick and explores the music and culture of Phish, completed its 10 episode arc last week. However, “Divided Sky Reprise” draws on the 90 interviews conducted for the podcast, to share some additional accounts and anecdotes.
The episode opens with Jon Fishman’s look back at the band’s 1993 April’s Fool show which involved a Neil Young bait-and-switch. The stories that follow include Phish’s 1992 New Year’s Eve radio prank, Variety Executive Editor of Music Shirley Halperin’s teaching the band “Jerusalem of Gold” over the phone, Trey Anastasio’s letter of appreciation to Paul McCartney, Mike Gordon and Bill Payne’s thoughts on the Little Feat/Phish connection, Page McConnell and Chris McGregor on constructing a Haunted House and Blues Traveler’s John Popper on receiving permission from Trey so that he can “‘Divided Sky’ the shit” out of a holiday song. Bill Walton returns as well.
