Alex G Details Co-Headlining Summer Tour with Alvvays, Shares Video for “Immunity”

Today, experimental singer-songwriter Alex G announced the Canadian indie pop band Alvvays will set out together on a co-headlining tour. The tour will include eight performances stretching across North America.
Alex G and Alvvay’s tour will kick off at the Prospect Park Bandshell in Brooklyn, N.Y., on Aug 23. From there, they’ll head beloved music hubs, including Boston, Philadelphia, Toronto, Woodstock, N.Y., Royal Oak, Mich., and Pittsburgh, before concluding the tour at Artpark in Lewiston, N.Y., on Sept. 1. It’s notable before setting off on the tour Alex G will make several high profile music festival appearances, including performances at Bonnaroo, Coachella, Day in Day Out and more, in support of his latest LP, God Save the Animals.
In celebration of the tour announcement, Alex G shared a video for “Immunity,” one of the stand-out tracks from his recent release. The video serves as a grainy yet vivid backdrop for the stripped-down psychedelic soundscape. Director Zev Magasis matches the masked musings by capturing themes of solace, solitude, shelter, kinship, and their antithesis through short clips of family, Alex G, peacefully at his piano and the streets at night. All the while, Alex G sings, “What your mother gave you, you can give to me/ I have to put the cocaine in the vaccine/ Walk out of the doctor with immunity/ Life of revelation catching up with me” pitched up adding his own blur to his reflective admissions.
