2019 Grammy Nominations Include Brandi Carlile, Margo Price, Grateful Dead, Willie Nelson

 

The Recording Academy has revealed its nominations for the 61st Grammy Awards, topped by Album of the Year nods for Brandi Carlile, Janelle Monáe, Kacey Musgraves, Post Malone, Cardi B, Drake, H.E.R. and the Black Panther album.

Record of the Year includes a similar group, plus Childish Gambino, Kendrick Lamar, and Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper for their song “Shallow” from A Star is Born. Best New Artist’s field includes Greta Van Fleet, Margo Price, Dua Lipa, H.E.R. and more.

In the genre categories: Pop Performance includes Beck, Lady Gaga and Ariana Grande, with Willie Nelson included in Best Traditional Pop Vocal Album; Arctic Monkeys, Chris Cornell and Greta Van Fleet are nominated for Best Rock Performance, with GVF and Weezer in the Best Rock Album category; Best Alternative Album includes Arctic Monkeys, Beck, David Byrne, St. Vincent and Björk; Best Americana Album includes Brandi Carlile, The Wood Brothers, John Prine, Bettye LaVette and Lee Ann Womack; Best Bluegrass Album includes The Travelin’ McCourys, Wood & Wire and Mike Barnett; Best Traditional Blues Album includes Buddy Guy, Ben Harper & Charlie Musselwhite, Cedric Burnside, Maria Muldaur and Elvin Bishop; and Best Folk Album includes Punch Brothers, Iron & Wine and Joan Baez.
