Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeros: Being Here Now Never Felt So Good

Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeros seemingly emerged from the ether in 2009 with the infectious, psychedelic-tinged single “Home” and have remained a colorful presence on the festival circuit during the past three years. But the band’s explosive success and mystical presence are just part of frontman Alex Ebert’s unconventional story: Ebert first made waves in the late ‘90s with the high-energy, progressive rock band Ima Robot before a breakup and sobriety sparked the idea for the Edward Sharpe character and his new, hippie, shaman persona. Emily Zemler spent time with the group in the studio while they completed work on their sophomore album Here, tracing the band’s unique back-story and looking ahead to their third album, which is due in a few months.

The 12th Annual Relix Festival Guide: Set II

Though it’s now entirely possible to attend a music festival any time of the year, nothing make us want to scream “festivaaaaaal” at the top of our lungs quite like the summer months. And for the 12th year in a row, Relix is happy to help you navigate your time on the summer circuit with our annual festival guide. The second “set” of our three-part festival guide takes you from early June all the way into September – stopping everywhere from Bonnaroo, Download Festival and Electric Daisy to All Good, Gathering of the Vibes and Forecastle with moe.down, Outside Lands and North Coast along the way. We also check in with 2012 Summer Stars like Keller Williams, White Denim, Rubblebucket, Big Gigantic, Trampled By Turtles, The Infamous Stringdusters, GIVERS, Toubab Krewe, Perry Farrell, Fitz and The Tantrums, ALO and others to hear about their summer plans and grab some warm weather recommendations.

Plus: Levon Helm, Nick Mason, Strangefolk, Amadou & Mariam, Bobby Keys, Of Monsters and Men, Spectrum Road, Neal Casal, Lukas Nelson and much more!
