The Miracle in Mundelein Wraps Debut Event (A Gallery)

This past weekend, the inaugural Miracle In Mundelein, Illinois’ first-ever music concert that allowed onsite cannabis consumption, occurred. The event transpired over two days, Saturday, Sept. 9, and Sunday, Sept. 10, 2023, just outside Chicago, across the street from RISE Mundelein in Mundelein, Ill.

The gathering was a cultural mix of hip-hop, jam, reggae, and funk artists, such as DJ Papa G, who opened up the musical component of the event with an afternoon set spun on Saturday. After, Stephen Marley delivered his highly-anticipated festival frame before Action Bronson took over the stage. The final musician guest on the event’s first day was hip-hop masters Cypress Hill.

The ensuing Sunday started with a rock-leaning schedule, including Karina Rykman, who recently delivered her debut LP, Joyride. The event’s final day continued with music courtesy of Lettuce, who played during the late afternoon hours.

For the final performance, Joe Russo’s Almost Dead closed out The Miracle In Mundelein, running through two Grateful Dead-infused sets swamped with beefy jams. Included were takes on beloved classics, like “Eyes of The World,” “He’s Gone” and “Truckin’,” which came during the first half and mingled with classic covers associate with thr San Francisco jamband. Later, JRAD picked up “Jack Straw,” “The Music Never Stopped” and an epic “Terrapin Station,” amongst others.
