Today, The Governors Ball music festival announced who will join them at the Flushing Meadows Corona Park in Queens, N.Y., on June 9-11, 2023. The event will be headlined by Lizzo, Odesza and Kendrick Lamar.
The Governors Ball festival took place at New York’s Randall’s Island for years but moved to Queen’s Citi Field in 2021. This year marks the first time the festival will take place at Flushing Meadows Corona Park, an iconic site that has two World’s Fairs and is the home of the annual U.S. Open.
“Words can’t express how excited we are to bring Gov Ball to Flushing Meadows Corona Park, one of the most special and storied parks in all of New York City,” said Tom Russell, co-founder and partner at Founders Entertainment, in a statement. “Since moving to Queens in 2021 we’ve been overwhelmed by the welcome the community has shown us, and we look forward to continue being a part of and giving back to that community for years to come. We are honored to call such an iconic venue our new home, and we thank Mayor Adams and his administration and Queensborough President Donovan Richards for their trust and support.”
It’s notable the festival also reaffirmed its commitment to the city and the borough of Queens with partnerships with non-profit organizations like the Elmhurst/Corona Recovery Collective and Chhaya. The School of Rock Queens and the School of Rock Brooklyn will also join the eclectic lineup of musicians on Friday and Saturday.
The first day of the festival, Friday, June 9, will see Lizzo topping bill, which will also include Lil Uzi Vert, HAIM, Diplo, Omar Apollo, Kim Petras, Eladio Carrión, Joey Bada$$, 070 Shake, Alexander 23, Davido, Pj Morton, Michelle, Maxo Kream and more. Electronic duo Odesza will take the reins the following day, Saturday, June 10, along with fellow performers Lil Baby, Aespa, Rina Sawayama, Lauv, Oliver Tree, Finneas, Kenny Beats, Koffee, Snail Mail, SYD, Suki Waterhouse, Kennyhoopla, Lovejoy and others.
