A new music festival will reportedly occur at the original Woodstock Music and Art Festival location. The site, otherwise known as Max Yasgur’s dairy farm, hosted the historic event from August 14 through 18, 1969, and according to Mid Hudson News, will once again boast a similar experience.
For the past 16 years, the farm and former site of the three-day festival of peace and music, has been home to Bethel Woods Performing Art Center, a 15,000-capacity amphitheater in Bethel, N.Y., which has hosted a myriad of acts and talent since its inception.
Bethel Woods CEO Eric Frances told regional tourism officials: “In a few weeks, hopefully, we will be announcing a new multi-day festival in August for the main stage will be on the original ‘69 field, which has not been the case for decades, so we’re very excited.”
The forthcoming unnamed festival’s current trajectory would align with the 54th anniversary of the fabled Woodstock Music and Art Festival event, which initially brought acts such as the Grateful Dead, Janis Joplin, Jimi Hendrix, The Who, Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young and countless other to the main stage.
Other iterations of the beloved music festival have been attempted, including the Woodstock 50, which was originally scheduled to happen on August 16 through 18 at Merriweather Post Pavilion in Columbia, Md., but was ultimately canceled due to a series of permit and production issues, venue relocations and artist cancellations.
