BUKU Music + Art Project Cancels 2023 Festival

New Orleans’ boutique EDM, hip hop and indie rock music festival announced they will not return in 2023. The cancelation marks the second major festival in New Orleans to shutter its doors as the city collects itself after the COVID-19 pandemic, following Voodoo Fest, which was set to take place during the Halloween season.

The organizers of BUKU did not specify why they were canceling their 2023 gather but stated that “the current model of BUKU needs to take a break.”

“For a myriad of reasons, we’ve decided that the festival will not take place in March 2023. We don’t know exactly what the future will look like–and that’s okay as there is freedom in the unknown-but we know that will gather again someday, in some form, bursting with creativity and purpose,” the statement said.

BUKU started a decade ago in 2012 and was popular among a new generation of music lovers in The Big Easy with DJ acts like Major Lazer, Alison Wonderland, $uicideboy$ and contemporary major label acts including Tame Impala, Kali Uchi, Glass Animals and more.
