Pearl Jam’s intimate set at The Ride Festival in Telluride, CO saw the first version of “Angel” in 22 years and a host of other special, unique surprises that fans of the band have come to expect from the Seattle rock legends over the years. 

One of those came to start the encore as Eddie Vedder let the rest of the band have a break while he dipped into another rare tune, “Santa Cruz” from their 2008 fan club Christmas single. Except this time Vedder didn’t sing about the California town but rather altered the lyrics to fit the scenic Colorado town. “I realized if the words were adjusted, it would illustrate how we’re feeling today,” Vedder said as he introduced the song before injecting some Telluride-specific lines into the song.
