Ryan Adams Welcomes Nicki Bluhm, The Infamous Stringdusters in Telluride

June 19, 2016

Ryan Adams returned to the stage with a solo set at the Telluride Bluegrass Festival in Colorado. While originally slated as a solo acoustic show, Adams mixed it up by welcoming Nicki Bluhm and The Infamous Stringdusters to the fold for a full band acoustic set that served as a preview for the group’s collaborative Newport Folk set in July.

Among the highlights include takes on Adams staples like “To Be Young,” “Let it Ride” and “Oh My Sweet Carolina” to go along with more rare tunes like Easy Tiger cuts “Pearls on a String” and “Tears of Gold” which haven’t been played since 2008 and 2007, respectively.

The group also dipped into Adams’ time with the Cardinals and Whiskeytown, delivering cuts like “Trains” (first time since 2006) and Whiskeytown’s “Jacksonville Skyline.” The least-acoustic-sounding track came later as the band tackled “Holy Diver” by metal group Dio.

Adams also previewed a pair of new tracks presumably from his forthcoming record with two new selections titled “Orange Cat” and “Peppers,” which came later in the set.

Adams, Bluhm and the Stringdusters will reprise their collaboration later this year at Newport Folk Festival.

Here’s a look at the setlist:
