Live Nation Plots 50th Anniversary Woodstock Celebration at Bethel Woods

August 2019 will be the 50th anniversary of the groundbreaking Woodstock festival, and Live Nation has partnered with marketing agency INVNT to hold a half-century celebration at the original festival grounds at Bethel Woods from Aug. 16-18.

According to the official announcement,  the three-day event will be “celebrating the golden anniversary at the historic site of the 1969 Woodstock festival.”

No lineup has been announced, but the “pan-generational cultural event” will showcase “live music, TED-style talks and special exhibits.”

Little details are known, but the venue does note that more information (including ticket information and artist roster) will be presented very soon.

The original 1969 Woodstock featured iconic performances by Jimi Hendrix, Jefferson Airplane, Santana, Richie Havens and more.

Follow-up events like Woodstock ’94 and Woodstock ’99 were less successful, particularly the latter which ended in a flame-filed, near-riot.
