Mt. Joy’s second LP, Rearrange Us, was released this past June. Today, we are premiering the video for “Strangers,” the closing track on the album.

The video was directed by Francis Galluppi, and it was shot in a series of locations in California including Big Bear, El Matador Beach Hollywood Blvd., and Duarte. According to a press release, the video “is a beautiful metaphor for the confounding sense of insecurity and wonderment that comes from exiting a relationship and entering into the uncertainty of life ahead.”

“It was one of those rare occasions where the idea for the music video came quite naturally,” Galluppi told Relix. “The song really resonated with me and I felt that I wanted to create something with a sense of innocence but still maintain the sort of whimsical aesthetic that Mt. Joy embodies.”

“The idea of ‘falling in love with strangers’ was definitely the catalyst for the concept, but the lyric in the chorus ‘I am over you’ helped push the concept visually,” he continued. “Even though we move on from past relationships, there will always be something we have to remember them by, ‘a little flesh wound.'”

“Our friend Francis Galluppi made an incredible video, and we can’t help but be forever grateful to have such a beautiful end scene with a creature that looks like one of our heroes, Bob Weir, as the abominable snowman,” vocalist/guitarist Matt Quinn told Relix. “Total coincidence and a beautiful one.”

Mt. Joy have also recently announced a series of drive-in shows, set for late August and September. The shows will see them perform in Philadelphia, Cape Cod and Chicago. See the list of dates below.
