Last Thursday, December 18, Gov’t Mule bassist Kevin Scott hosted the annual Allstar Holiday Revival concert at the Variety Playhouse in Atlanta. The event raised $20,000 in donations, which will be distributed to the event’s partner organizations, Backline, The Georgia Music Foundation, and Vermin Sanctuary.
The 10th-anniversary event featured a rotating lineup of top-tier musicians performing a funky, festive set of songs that ranged from borrowed numbers by highly regarded favorites, borrowed from the original song banks of Stevie Wonder, Chaka Khan, Van Halen, Black Sabbath, Thin Lizzy, as well as originals from Marcus King, Kevn Kinney, and more.
Known for his work with Govt Mule, John McLaughlin, Col. Buce Hampton, and Jimmy Herring, Scott served as the evening’s bandleader, guiding a roster that featured Charlie Starr, Benji Shanks, Mark Lettieri, Duane Trucks, Jelly Joseph, Kevn Kinney, T. Hardy Morris, The Greyhounds, King Baby, Emil Werstler, Rick Lollar, Lamont Landers, and more.
Photographer Ian Rawn was in attendance and shared his photos. See below.
