In a new interview with Rolling Stone, Willie Nelson had some simple advice for Attorney General Jeff Sessions, who said that pot is “only slightly less awful” than heroin as he continues his quest to increase penalties for marijuana offenses. 

“I wonder if he’s tried both of them,” Nelson said. “I don’t think you can really make a statement like that unless you tried it all. So I’d like to suggest to Jeff to try and then let me know later if he thinks he’s telling the truth.” 

Nelson also dove into his thoughts on Trump’s presidency thus far, saying that he knew the current president “back when he owned some casinos.” Nelson mentioned that he also worked for him at one point. “He always paid me. I had no problems at all. I think he’s stepped into a different world.” 

While Nelson says that people tell him to run for office all the time, he’s “come close a couple times” before adding, “And then I sobered up.”
