Watch Rooster Conspiracy Unleash a 70-Minute “Terrapin Station” at Unlimited Devotion Benefit

June 11, 2018

Pennsylvania’s Ardmore Music Hall hosted the annual Unlimited Devotion fundraiser and celebration of the Grateful Dead over the weekend, with guest of honor Wavy Gravy presiding over the festivities that featured multiple supergroups and jam sessions, including a set from Rooster Conspiracy that turned into a 70-minute, improvisation and tease-infused take on the Dead’s “Terrapin Station.”

The band—which first came together as a jam session featuring Bill Kreutzmann on drums—was playing only their second official show, with the first coming at Brooklyn Comes Alive 2017. The group now consists of guitarist Eric Krasno, bassist Reed Mathis, keyboardist Todd Stoops and Jay Lane filling in for Kreutzmann on drums.

Saturday’s one-song set from Rooster Conspiracy featured some unplanned forays into tunes like “They Love Each Other,” “That’s What Love Will Make You Do,” “The Other One” and Jimi Hendrix’s “Machine Gun,” along with plenty of space for every member of the band to flex their considerable improv muscles.
