Watch Metallica Crush The National Anthem Prior to Game 4 of the Stanley Cup Final

June 7, 2016

As they’ve done numerous times in the Bay Area, Metallica helped the local sports team kick off their evening with a rendition of the National Anthem. This time, it was Game 4 of the Stanley Cup Final between the San Jose Sharks and the Pittsburgh Penguins.

It all started with drummer Lars Ulrich and bassist Robert Trujillo, who hyped up the crowd from the jumbotron and sent the team onto the ice. Then guitarists James Hetfield and Kirk Hammett took to the ice for an instrumental rendition of the Anthem. Watch it below.

Unfortunately, Metallica’s energy wasn’t enough to sustain the Sharks through the game as they lost to the Penguins 3-1 to fall down that exact mark in the series, just one loss away from elimination.
