John Mayer is the latest guest on First We Feat’s Hot Ones, an amazing YouTube show that manages to get typically guarded celebrities to eat increasingly hot chicken wings and burn their taste buds into oblivion. 

The Dead & Company guitarist held his own during the hot wing challenge, and chatted casually with host Sean Evans about how stand-up comedy is akin to musical jamming and the folklore of his “guitar face.”

“Guitar faces? I defend them all,” Mayer says. “Because guitar faces are involuntary…Here’s the thing you have to believe, at least as far as I’m concerned. I don’t feel it. I don’t know I’m doing it.”
