Watch: Dave Grohl Brings Crying Fan on Stage to Sing “My Hero”

Every now and then you need to have a good cry. Sometimes it happens privately, other times it happens in a stadium of thousands of people while Foo Fighters play “My Hero.” For concertgoer Anthony, he was fortunate (or unfortunate, depending on your emotional stability) enough to be spotted by Dave Grohl, who invited him up to the front row at first when he spotted him crying a few rows back.

As Alternative Nation points out, Grohl invited the probably drunk and definitely emotional Anthony up on stage:

“Don’t cry motherfucker, I know you’re drunk, don’t cry. Are you crying right now? You’re fucking crying aren’t you? (Laughs) I love you man, look at you, holy shit. You know what, fuck that speech I was just going to make, I’m singing this shit to you right now. I’m gonna sing this fucking song right in your face, man to man, prison style, I’m going man to man. Me and you, I want some real tears, you better sing it with me. (Laughs) Don’t make me cry, because I promised I wouldn’t do this.”

All it took was some liquid courage for Anthony to jump up and share the mic with Grohl on the singalong chorus. The two led the Greenwood Village, CO crowd in “My Hero” before Grohl promptly kicked Anthony off stage.
