“We gotta lot of friends in New York,” Dave Matthews said as he welcomed out special guest guitarist Warren Haynes during Dave Matthews Band’s second of two nights at NYC’s Madison Square Garden last week. Then, Haynes and the band proceeded to deliver a fiery performance of Neil Young’s classic, expansive tune “Cortez the Killer.”

DMB have released new, pro-shot video of the collaboration, which begins with Haynes and DMB guitarist Tim Reynolds trading slide-guitar solos before Haynes crunches into Young’s chord progression. He and Matthews shared vocal duties on the verses, with Haynes ripping solos in between—and drummer Carter Beauford taking it all in with his signature beaming smile.
