Guitarist and singer-songwriter Gary Clark Jr. just released his new studio album, This Land, last Friday, and yesterday he led his band in a performance of album track “What About Us” on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.

The tune features a double-guitar approach, with Clark leading the way on vocals and main riff while his rhythm guitarist King Zapata chimed in with some choice slide licks. As is generally the case with television-studio performances, the power of Clark and company was noticeably muted—also this particular performance didn’t feature any of Clark’s signature searing guitar solos—but the songwriting and musicianship shine through nevertheless.
