Video Premiere: Tommy Emmanuel “Tittle Tattle” (Feat. Jack Pearson)

April 13, 2018

In our review of Tommy Emmanuel‘s latest album, Accomplice One, we note that the record allows him “to display his virtuosity and range more fully over 16 tracks of intimate collaborations…Above all though, it’s the leader’s constant resourcefulness and sheer judiciousness that shines through: Tommy Emmanuel can outplay just about anyone, yet he never needs to. Give him a song, sit him behind the mic with like-minded folks, and good things just happen.” Today we’re sharing the official video for “Tittle Tattle,” which pairs him with Jack Pearson, who will join him at Tommy Emmanuel’s guitar camp in Memphis  on July 23-27.

Emmanuel reflects, “One of my favorite things to do when I’m home in Nashville is to go and jam with Jack Pearson. His knowledge, experience, and versatility is unmatched. His loving attitude and big heart is an inspiration to be around. This performance, which we recorded in one take, is testimony to Jack’s greatness. I simply said to him, ‘Let’s play a blues in Bb.’ He started strumming the chords, then I joined in with some melody lines. We then weaved our way through the whole song as if having a conversation and nothing was planned or rehearsed. This is music in its pure state. Two guys playing from their heart and from their mind. When we listened back to it, Jack said, ‘We sound like two kids in a playground.’ So, I called it ‘Tittle Tattle.’ By the way, our guitars are from the ’30s.”

Pearson adds, “I love playing with Tommy, we are soul brothers. We hit the note together the very first time we ever played together and it’s like that every time. We just jam and improvise and it’s always exciting, plus we are great friends. Doesn’t get any better than that!”
