Video Premiere: Nahko and Medicine for The People “Build a Bridge”

September 25, 2013

Today we premiere a live video for “Build a Bridge” by Nahko and Medicine for The People. This live version of the song will appear as a bonus track on the re-release of Nahko’s debut album On The Verge in early November.

Here is what Nakho has to say about the composition: “Hoka hey. This story is an important one for the voice of Heyoka (el coyote) and the sacred clown in our tribe. Building bridges between dark and light. In the tiny cracks of time where voices rarely are heard. A mighty bridge with strong pillars swaying in time. I imagine us crossing it in peace. But, peace comes with a price. I touched on my personal life in this sort autobiographical journey of an architect poet building through resistance and constructing with fierce revelry. To walk over this bridge in search of allies with absolute trust in the peace you surround yourself with. It’s a deeper look at myself and where I want to go. I’m proud of this transmission and feel like it’s a powerful translation of anger, love, and eventual peace. Wopila. Shoot flaming arrows. For all our relations.”

Nahko’s most recent album Dark As Night is available on iTunes.
