Video Premiere: Hillstomp “Don’t Come Down”

November 25, 2014

Over the past 12 years Hillstomp has released 5 full-length records and 2 EPs, while sharing bills with Reverend Horton Heat, Avett Brothers, Split Lip Rayfield, Scott Biram and many others. However, the Portland, OR based group, has yet to release an official video, until now. Today we premiere “Don’t Come Down” from Hillstomp’s 2014 release Portland, Ore. The group’s Henry Kammerer tells Relix that the song itself came together when “Hillstomp was on indefinite hiatus, I had no job, no leads on one, no skills even if I had leads. The old tour van had just broken down on me again on my way to an interview for a job I knew I’d hate, but needed. I got towed home and wrote “Don’t Come Down”. Like everything else Hillstomp does, it’s a dance song.”.

As for the video, in which Kammerer and bandmate John Johnson worked with director Seth Whelden and Kelly Wilcox, Kammerer explains, “Like this album, this video was almost too easy to make. The entire project from start to finish felt as though it were being guided by something. I’m excited for my kid to see this someday. To meet who his dad used to be.”
