Video Premiere: The Get Right Band “Touch The Holy” from ‘Live in Asheville’

On January 26th, The Get Right Band will issue their first-ever live album. Live in Asheville is the fourth release from the trio and the follow-up to their studio effort, Who’s In Charge? In our review of that album, we noted, “As they have proved during the choice festival sets they’ve earned, The Get Right Band are capable of veering from rock to reggae with occasional detours toward funk and blues with ease. It’s little wonder things feel uncommonly easy and assured: Guitarist/vocalist Silas Durocher and bassist Jesse Gentry have played together since middle school, and with drummer Jian-Claude Mears setting the pace, their ability to vary the tempo seems like second nature.”
Live in Asheville similarly showcases the band’s versatility and draws on some unreleased songs as well as fan-favorites from the group’s previous releases. Today we are premiere the official performance video for “Touch The Holy.”
Silas Durocher tells Relix, “The Get Right Band’s first shows ever were a tour of the US Virgin Islands in 2011. We kept touring down there in the Caribbean every winter for many years. It’s always been a very special trip for us–we get to bond more with each other, connect more with nature, and slow down the pace of life, if just for a couple weeks. Touch The Holy is an expression of that experience: getting connected with something higher than self, eating mangoes and Turk’s caps, snorkeling with turtles (big ones) and sharks (little ones), the jungles and beaches, the full moon rising over the bay, and playing music with your best friends every night. We’ve always left a lot of room in the song for improvisation and we really took it out to space on this version for our new record Live in Asheville. Every time we play the song we get to take a quick mental vacation back to the islands and we try to bring that vibe to the audience, even if it’s the middle of winter in the mountains of Western North Carolina!”
