Stone Temple Pilots Remember Scott Weiland in Emotional Tribute Video
Tributes to the late Stone Temple Pilots frontman Scott Weiland have poured in from all corners of the music and entertainment world. From Ryan Adams to Duff McKagan and Chuck D, everyone seemed to pay their respects after Weiland was found dead on his tour bus from an overdose. The most powerful, in fact, came yesterday as the surviving members of STP, Dean and Robert DeLeo and Eric Kretz, shared a video of them listening to an isolated vocal track of “Atlanta” from their 1999 record No. 4.
“We put the master up of a song called ‘Atlanta’ from the No. 4 record that we feel really highlights the true brilliance of Scott. We would like to share it with you,” the members told Rolling Stone. “Having the opportunity to listen to these tracks individually reveal the beauty of Scott’s lyrical and melodic gift. This is one of the many musical moments we shared together. It is in this way we would like to remember Scott.”
The video is accompanied by voiceovers from individual members, recounting recording the song that they unanimously agreed showcased the frontman at his very best. “This is one song in particular that hits me the same way that it did the day that we recorded it,” Kretz said. Robert DeLeo added, “When you hear this track, we hope to share in the same feeling and spirit each of us had while recording it. The four of us, in a room, capturing a moment in time on tape. So enjoy this song and the depth of this brilliant performance from Scott.”
