Travers Geoffray is branching out with his first solo album after spending much of his career with the New Orleans jazz institution, Mississippi Rail Company. Highway Kings, produced by Grammy-winning Michael Latterel, arrives on April 12 and today we are proud to premiere the title track from that record below. 

Geoffray detailed the two-year writing process for Highway Kings, noting, “Writing Highway Kings felt like solving a crossword. The song itself became a quest to write the perfect road song. I wanted to create that feeling you have when you’re just driving. You may have a particular destination, but you’re not thinking about the destination. You’re lost in the movement. You feel content in the moment, yet melancholy because you’re not where you want to be yet. Maybe you know you will always be searching, wandering. The road forever waits you.”
