Song Premiere: Railroad Earth’s Todd Sheaffer and Anders Osborne ”Mother Earth”

September 8, 2016

Railroad Earth will appear at Red Rocks, next Friday, September 16, along with special guests the Chris Robinson Brotherhood and Anders Osborne (tickets are still available). To mark the occasion, we are premiering a special cover of Neil Young’s “Mother Earth” (from Young’s 1990 album Ragged Glory) that Railroad Earth’s Todd  Sheaffer and Anders Osborne recorded at the Peach Music Festival.

Sheaffer tells Relix, ” We recorded this track in the back lounge of Anders’ tour-bus at Peach Fest and had a lot of fun doing it. We did two takes of this lovely Neil Young anthem for Mother Nature. I loved the powerful soul & gospel Anders brought to the tune. This was the first time Anders and I had done anything together and after the first take, having worked together for a total of about 3 minutes, I commented ‘I got goosebumps.’ Anders said, “So did I.’ We took that as a good sign. Hope you enjoy.”

Osborne adds, “I love the way this recording came together! Both Todd and I were playing Peach Fest and my sound engineer Mark Howard, set up some mics in the back lounge of the bus, used a four track recording device and we cut it right before my set. Todd had picked a wonderful and very poignant tune written by Neil Young. Todd’s voice is so soothing. Really enjoyed that day!”
