Queens of the Stone Age’s Stunning New Album _Villains_ is Exactly What You Need Today

Queens of the Stone Age’s Villains lands today and rock has its defining record of the year so far.

The album, available to stream below, is being widely heralded as a danceable record but while that is true, much of the substance and highlights come in the album’s quieter moments like the brooding “Fortress” or stunning album closer “Villains of Circumstance.” Still, Queens turns up the volume as Josh Homme roars through the foot-stomping opener “Feet Don’t Fail Me” and frantic “Head Like a Haunted House” as well as the album’s lead single, the groovy “The Way You Used to Do.”

Villains will end up at the top of a lot of “best of” lists this coming December and for good reason, as Queens return when we need them most.
