Directors is a new quintet that draws together some stellar New York-based musicians. Known for their work with Antibalas, John Zorn, Medeski Martin & Wood, Alicia Keys and many others. The band features Sahr N’gaujah (vocals), Jordan McLean (trumpet, keys, vocals), Amir Ziv (drums), Ricky Quiñones (guitar, vocals) and Nikhil P. Yerawadekar (bass, vocals). Together they harness their geographical and cultural influences of US, Puerto Rico, Israel, India, and Sierra Leone, and filter them through the punky, New-Wave-energy of the neighboring indie-rock scene.

The group tells Relix, “We’re long-time friends and musical associates that have come together to be a band. Our mission is to connect with as many people as we can, from as many countries and cultures as possible, to share uplifting, fun, thought-provoking messages that we believe in, and inspire people to move physically and emotionally. Simply put, we wish to make a positive contribution to the world through our music.”
