A healthy dose of Memphis soul came to New York City in November as Stax recording artists Southern Avenue warmed up Brooklyn Bowl ahead of Dumpstaphunk’s annual Phunksgiving celebration. Then, the band did the same for Twiddle at the Capitol Theatre the following night. Elsewhere, Grammy and Tony award winning singer Dee Dee Bridgewater continued through a week-long engagement at The Blue Note to celebrate the release of her new CD.
