Mavis Staples & Friends at the Apollo Theater (A Gallery)

Last week, Mavis Staples kicked off her nationwide 80th birthday celebration with the the first of three performances featuring an all-star group of Friends. The show, which took place at NYC’s famed Apollo Theater (the following two will be held later this month in Nashville and Los Angeles) saw Staples collaborate with the likes of David Byrne, Warren Haynes, Jason Isbell, Norah Jones, Lake Street Dive, Jon Batiste, Valerie June, Maggie Rogers and more.
