Mason Jennings Shares Video from Forthcoming Album, ‘Real Heart’
Earlier this year we published a conversation with Mason Jennings and Stone Gossard about their Painted Shield project, which also features Matt Chamberlain and Brittany Davis. On February 4, Jennings’ new studio album will be issued by Gossard’s Loosegroove Records. Gossard also produced Real Heart along with Regan Hagar.
Jennings says that Real Heart represents “the unabashed folk record that I have been wanting to make for years. Kind of a love letter to the acoustic guitar and to musical intimacy. Kind of a love letter to the acoustic guitar and to musical intimacy.”
Today, we premiere the official video for “On The Brink,” the first single from the forthcoming record. Jennings tells Relix, “This song is in response to people I’ve met since I’ve been in the public eye using spirituality or the words “I love you” for their own manipulative gain. I am a very open and trusting person and what I’ve had to learn the hard way over the years is that some people have really dark and selfish motives and they will use a person’s empathy and openness as an entry point for their own agenda. In other words, I’ve had to wake up and learn better discernment.”
Jennings upcoming tour dates appear below the video, which was directed by Hagar.
