Chad Smith and Nerve’s John Davis Jam on Video for Sabian

Sabian Cymbals third annual “Cymbal Vote” event, wherein fans pick new models of cymbals to go in to general production, typically features videos of their better-known endorsers demonstrating the new cymbal options, usually playing solo to a pre-recorded track. This year however, owing in part to the use of Brooklyn’s The Bunker studio as a setting for the majority of the shoots, Sabian managed to capture a unique jam between the Red Hot Chili Peppers’ drummer Chad Smith and Nerve bassist (and Bunker co-owner) John Davis. The cymbal makers have posted three separate Youtube videos of the two improvising together. The performances present an uncommon window on two accomplished musicians playing together for the first time. You can check out the three clips below.
