Album Premiere: Big Something _The Otherside_
BIG Something will release their latest album The Otherside, this Friday. The record continues the narrative from 2017’s Tumbleweed, concluding the account of a nomad who has traveled through the night and finally encounters a desert sunrise. Once again the group recorded the record with John Custer (Corrosion of Conformity) at Echo Mountain Studios in Asheville, NC. The band’s lead vocalist Nick MacDaniels tells Relix, “This album is special for us in many ways. It felt like we were capturing an important moment together as a band and as brothers. We also wanted to pay homage to the original concept of making “an album” where sitting down and listening to the whole thing is an experience – 20 minutes per side with a break between and each side complements the other. This is the first time we’ve setup a release to fit perfectly on a vinyl record like that.” Bass player Doug Marshall adds, “The recording felt effortless. There was a certain vibe in the air. It felt like everything took a big jump. In the songwriting and the performance. Everyone went to the next level. I’m very proud to have been a part of this album.
Today we share the premiere stream of The Otherside, which is available for pre-order. The group will celebrate the record at the The Big What? Wilmington on April 27 & 28 at the Greenfield Lake Amphitheater in Wilmington NC. The group’s upcoming dates appear below the stream.
