Northwest bluegrass outfit Cascade Crescendo will release their next album, Chasing the Sun, later this month on February 15, and today we premiere the band’s new track “Every Little Thing,” which features Greensky Bluegrass dobro player Anders Beck.

The song, which stretches toward the eight-minute mark, features both traditional and modern bluegrass influences, with an extended middle section of improvisation that proves that Cascade Crescendo aren’t afraid to translate their live jams into their studio work. The band explains that the lyrics of the song speak to the little things that can overwhelm people in their lives, even when they’re invisible to others, and points toward efforts to overcome these challenges.

Cascade Crescendo’s Hunter White also tells Relix about Beck’s inclusion on the track: “When I wrote this song, I imagined a dobro playing the intro melody lick. When we play it live, I’ll play that lick on the acoustic guitar, but it doesn’t quite do it justice. We’re honored to have Anders Beck from Greensky Bluegrass playing dobro on this recording. I’m really happy with the way it turned out. It’s cool to hear his take on the melody and how he builds upon it with complimentary parts I hadn’t even imagined.”
