The New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival is celebrating 50 years in 2019 with an impressive lineup that brings in newcomers like The Rolling Stones along with hundreds of returning artists and local favorites. To commemorate the landmark gathering, the festival once again released an official poster—this year deciding to use the art to honor the many legendary Crescent City musicians that have made Jazz Fest and the city’s everlasting musical legacy what it is today—and Art 4 Now, the publishers of the poster, recently shared a video chronicling the creation of the star-studded portrait.

Artist Scott Guion is the man behind the incredible poster, which portrays a hefty chunk of New Orleans musical history, from legends like Louis Armstrong, Fats Domino, Allen Toussaint and Dr. John to more modern acts like Big Freedia and Trombone Shorty (though there are some notable omissions).

In the video below, watch Guion take the idea for the family portrait from initial sketches, through intricate work on individual artists, to the final product, which can also be seen below the video.
