Mike Gordon took some time on Twitter today to answer questions submitted by many of his followers and recalled one particularly sweet memory from his time playing with Marco Benevento and Joe Russo in the mid-2000’s while Phish was on hiatus. When asked if “you guys” (assuming Phish) ever considered playing a one-song set, the bassist referenced the time he actually did it, in 2005 with the Benevento/Russo Duo in Athens, GA.

The trio busted a nearly hour-long version of “Foam” that featured all of the improv-heavy sensibilities of the Duo combined with Gordon’s prowess. If you’ve never heard it, it’s something not of this planet. Thankfully, some very forward-thinking 2005’er had his/her camera rolling.
