Video Premiere: Project Grand Slam Covers Phish

June 1, 2017

The forthcoming album from Robert Miller’s Project Grand Slam, The PGS Experience, draws together five new studio tracks and four live performances. Similarly, it presents both originals and cover tunes from the group that blends jazz, rock, funk and Latin sounds. This is fifth release from the group and today we premiere the band’s cover of Phish’s “Free,” from The PGS Experience, which is now available for pre-order via iTunes and Amazon.

Miller explains, “With Project Grand Slam I like to ‘reimagine’ great songs in our own jazz-rock-fusion style. I’ve been a fan of Trey and Phish for a long time and wanted to do something with one of their songs. It took me a year to come up with our version of ‘Free’. I hope the band and their fans dig it!”

Following an appearance at the Jamaica Ocho Rios International Jazz Festival, this coming Sunday, Robert Miller’s Project Grand Slam will return to the U.S. for a gig at American Beauty in New York City on June 9.
