Tedeschi Trucks Band will bring their new album, Future Soul, to Japan next autumn. The 12-piece ensemble will embark on a four-night stay beginning Nov. 15 at Comtec Portbase in Nagoya. They’ll take their finesse for the 11-track collection to Osaka’s Festival Hall the following evening, before closing out the regional run over two nights at the Ariake Arena in Tokyo. News of the international touring leg comes on the heels of the group’s stop at Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion in Woodland, Texas, on Friday, April 17, where they welcomed Lukas Nelson to join them on the final four tracks of their live delivery.

Friday night’s launch centered on the title track off Tedeschi Trucks Band’s sixth studio record and latest release, followed by LP sister songs “What in the World,” “Crazy Cryin’,” and “Who Am I.” They pulled out of the aforementioned pool of music, devising a section devoted to covers, including the Chuck Willis original “I Feel So Band” and a coupling of Sly & the Family Stone’s “You Can Make It If You Try” > “Everyday People.”

Next, the ensemble moved through another series of originals before bumping into a rendition of “Let The Good Times Roll.” “Ain’t That Something” brought material from I Am The Moon into focus ahead of Blind Faith’s “Had to Cry Today,” and their own “Made Up Mind.” The Rolling Stones’ “Loving Cup” provided a concert prelude to the arrival of their guest, Lukas Nelson. Previously, the hosts and Nelson have shared the stage on various occasions, including September 2023’s Garden Party in New York City.

Like Nelson’s sit-in with the band during their Ryman Auditorium residency in 2023, the group revisited Sleepy John Estes’ “Leaving Trunk,” which merged into the Rahsaan Roland Kirk original “Volunteered Slavery.” Rather than call it a night, Nelson stuck around for the concert’s encore, which began in rare form with Tedeschi, Gabe Dixon, and Nelson stepping out as a trio and giving Leon Russell’s “A Song For You” thorough justice. Ultimately, all players returned for the concert closeout and final feature of the sit-in: Matthew Moore’s “Space Captain.” Watch below.

More information about tickets for the group’s concerts in Japan is available at www.udo.jp/shows/TTB26. Previously, TTB embarked on a five-night series of live shows that were based in Japan in 2023.
