Colorado’s Big Head Todd and The Monsters, a platinum-selling quartet—comprised of Todd Park Mohr (vocals, guitar, keys, sax, harmonica), Brian Nevin (drums, percussion), Rob Squires (bass, vocals), and Jeremy Lawton (guitar, keys, vocals, steel guitar)—have steadfastly delivered undeniable and uplifting anthems. Today, Relix has the pleasure of premiering “Her Way Out,” their latest musical concoction, which seamlessly blends no-nonsense hard rock, soulful melodies, deep-rooted blues, and a hint of country, creating a timeless sound that resonates with fans old and new.

With 38 years of continuous material recently recognized by the Colorado Music Hall of Fame, Big Head Todd and The Monsters are set to release their 12th full-length album, Thunderbird, in the late Spring. Today’s premiere serves as a preview to their upcoming musical odyssey, which is sure to see a sold-out performance at Morrison, Colo.’s iconic Red Rocks Amphitheatre, which the band has headlined a stupefying 35 times.

“‘Her Way Out’ is a straightforward American pop rock: jangly, anthemic and up-tempo. It has become a band favorite for the way it’s musically reminiscent of Tom Petty, but also for its original and compelling lyric, and Springsteen-esque bridge,” Park offered Relix. “The song has a chorus that shifts meaning after each of the verses. ‘My way out’ can mean a lot of things…. An excuse to get out of a relationship, an ending, or a new beginning together. Relationships can be a perfectly valid way out, as they also can be a prison in which one languishes unnecessarily. Basically, ‘Her Way Out’ is tough guitar and piano rock betrayed by a lyric that implies trust is fragile, and true love is a difficult but empowering achievement if it is maintained.”
